Getting there

The best way to start a Ra Anglers trip is to fly into Fiji’s main airport, Nadi. Direct flights are regularly available for residents of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Singapore, and many other global cities. No internal flights are required – simply meet your driver upon arrival in Nadi. Our groups travel to the resort in the air-conditioned comfort of a seven-seat van, which provides plenty of room for anglers, rod tubes, and luggage. During a 2.5-hour scenic drive along Kings Road, the hustle and bustle of major towns fades away as the coastline morphs into a patchwork of mangroves, villages, and farms. This is Ra Province, the heart of Fiji and home to Ra Anglers.

Our Home Base

Volivoli Beach Resort is an idyllic four-star property at the northernmost tip of Fiji’s main island, Viti Levu. Proudly owned and operated by the Darling family since 2005, Volivoli is known as Fiji’s premier dive resort and gateway to the Vatu-i-Ra seascape. Volivoli accommodates no more than 100 guests at a time, ensuring visitors enjoy an intimate and authentic experience of Fijian hospitality. This includes a traditional meke every Thursday, with kava on offer for those keen to try.

Arriving back onshore after a full day’s fishing, our anglers are usually keen for a cold beachside beverage at the Ra Bar or a relaxing massage at the Daulomani Spa. Those with excess energy might snorkel the fringing reefs, take a kayak out for a paddle, or cast a line off the sandspit. Lovo feasts and Sunday barbeques take place on the beach, with all other dinners served at Nuku Restaurant beside the pool and swim-up bar. Daily specials complement locally inspired menus from executive chef Lakepa Setitaia. There’s something for everyone.

The resort wraps around a headland, with every room positioned to take full advantage of the island vistas. A range of air-conditioned options are available, all of which have water views. Ocean View rooms are an affordable and popular choice for groups of three anglers, as is the Family Villa for groups of four. Two anglers can share a Deluxe Ocean View room. The Luxury Oceanfront Villa offers an indulgent upgrade for two to four anglers, featuring a private pool and terrace, sofas, two ensuite bathrooms, and a washing machine.
